Frequently Asked Questions
When will courses start in Werribee?
Courses are coming soon to Werribee. Dates and prices will be added to this page when bookings open.
Where is the Werribee venue?
The Werribee venue will be confirmed when bookings open. Courses are coming soon. Contact our team if you would like more information.
Which Werribee course should I choose?
Choose First Aid for HLTAID011, CPR for HLTAID009 on its own, or Childcare First Aid when you need HLTAID012 for an education and care setting. Check with your employer or placement provider if you are unsure which unit is required.
How long does the course take?
Allow approximately 2.5 hours for CPR, 6 hours for First Aid and 6.5 hours for Childcare First Aid. Exact session times will be confirmed when bookings open.
Is there homework or online learning?
No. These First Aid courses are taught and assessed face-to-face. Complete the required enrolment details and attend your selected session ready to participate.
What ID do I need?
You need one form of valid photo ID for your Werribee first aid course. A driver’s licence, passport, or proof of age card all work fine. Bring it with you on the day for check-in, since we can’t issue your Statement of Attainment without it on file. Also wear comfortable clothing, you’ll be doing CPR practice on the floor.
Please note that you also need your USI (Unique Student Identifier) at enrolment, so make sure to register before training day.
What do I need to bring with me on training day?
Bringing the correct ID is essential, it’s one of the most important requirements on the day.
Please review our ID Requirements section above before attending to ensure you have the right documents. If you didn’t supply your USI (Unique Student Identifier) at enrolment, you’ll also need to bring that with you.
When will I receive my certificate?
Same-day certification is available after successful assessment and completion of the required identity, USI and enrolment checks.
Does my First Aid certificate expire?
Legally, First Aid certificates do not expire. But everyone treats them as if they do. The Australian Resuscitation Council and Safe Work Australia both recommend a CPR refresher training every twelve months and your full First Aid every three years. That’s also what employers and site inductions ask for.
The cycle is simple. You complete a full course today, a CPR refresher at twelve months, and another CPR refresher at twenty four months, then back for the full course at three years.
Childcare is stricter. Since October 2023, there are actual legal deadlines. You must take another HLTAID012 course within three years and CPR within twelve months, or you don’t count as a qualified educator.
Lost track of your certificates? You can track your training history in your USI account at usi.gov.au.
What if I need to change my session?
Bookings for Werribee are not open yet. For questions about an existing NFAC booking, contact our team on 1300 623 613.
Can I get RPL for this course?
We do not offer RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) for any First Aid courses in Australia.
Because First Aid units have strict currency requirements and expire, all students must attend and complete the full course and assessment activities to be issued a certificate.
Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Requirements
To successfully complete any First Aid course, all students must have a basic level of English language, literacy and numeracy. This ensures you can understand safety information, follow instructions, and participate safely in both the training and assessment.
You must be able to:
- Read and understand simple safety signs, instructions, and short texts
- Write basic information (e.g., completing forms or short written responses)
- Communicate clearly in English with the trainer and other participants
- Follow verbal instructions during activities and assessments
- Use simple numeracy, such as reading times, basic measurements, or safety-related quantities
You must have a level of English that allows you to fully participate in the course. If you are unsure, please contact us, we can help you determine whether this course is suitable for you.
If you require LLN assistance, please let us know before booking. We may be able to provide support, make reasonable adjustments, or recommend alternative options depending on your needs.
Physical Requirements
All First Aid courses require you to complete practical activities, including demonstrating CPR on an adult manikin. To meet the assessment requirements, you must be able to:
- Perform 2 minutes of continuous CPR on an adult manikin placed on the floor
- Kneel on the floor for an extended period
- Use your arms and upper body strength to deliver effective compressions
- Perform other basic first aid tasks such as placing someone in the recovery position, applying bandages, and using an EpiPen or asthma device
If you have an injury or condition that may affect your ability to complete these tasks, please contact us before booking.
