Cpr Course

To enrol in the CPR course, participants must possess both verbal and written comprehension of the English language.

Additionally, you will need to obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI) from usi.gov.au.

• We recommend wearing casual and comfortable clothing, as practical training activities may involve lying down, bending, and kneeling. Additionally, please ensure you wear closed-toe footwear for safety during the training.

The CPR course is conducted entirely in-person, with no online or prior learning requirements necessary.

Participants in the CPR course will be assessed through practical demonstrations and theoretical evaluations. Practical assessments include performing CPR on manikins, managing unconscious casualties, and using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Theoretical assessments will evaluate knowledge of the DRSABCD action plan, emergency response procedures, and legal considerations.

HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

1. Respond to an Emergency Situation
   
   • Recognise and assess the emergency situation.
   • Ensure safety for oneself, bystanders, and the casualty.
   • Assess the casualty to determine the need for CPR.
   • Seek assistance from emergency services.
2. Perform CPR Procedures
   
   • Execute CPR in accordance with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.
   • Display respectful behavior towards the casualty.
   • Operate an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
3. Communicate Details of the Incident
   
   • Accurately convey incident details to emergency services.
   • Report incident details following appropriate workplace or site procedures.
   • Maintain privacy and confidentiality of the information in line with statutory or organisational policies.
4. Review the Incident
   
   • Recognise possible psychological impacts on oneself and other rescuers and seek help when needed.
   • Contribute to a review of the first aid response as required.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) acknowledges that individuals who possess the necessary knowledge and skills for competency in specific units of an accredited training package should not have to relearn what they already know.

The RPL process recognises that competencies can be gained through various avenues, including:

• Work Experience
• Life Experiences
