Frequently Asked Questions
What will I learn in the CPR and Low Voltage Rescue course?
You’ll learn how to safely rescue a person from a live low-voltage electrical panel, perform CPR on adults and infants, use a defibrillator (AED), assess and manage electrical hazards, and follow correct incident reporting procedures. The course covers both UETDRMP018 and HLTAID009 in a single face-to-face session.
What do I need to bring on training day?
Bring a government-issued photo ID such as a driver’s licence or passport, and make sure you have your USI number ready, because you’ll need it for your certificate to be issued on the day.
Wear enclosed footwear and comfortable clothing you can move around in, as the course involves hands-on practical activities including rescue simulations and CPR on the floor.
You don’t need to bring any tools or equipment. All training materials, rescue kits, manikins, and AED devices are provided on site.
Who needs to do the CPR and Low Voltage Rescue course?
This course is a mandatory safety requirement for anyone who works on or near live low-voltage electrical equipment. That includes licensed electricians, electrical apprentices, solar panel installers, maintenance technicians, site supervisors, electrical contractors, facilities managers, and rail and mining workers.
If your job requires you to access energised switchboards or electrical panels, you need a current LVR and CPR certificate to legally do so. Many employers and principal contractors will ask to see it before allowing site access.
How often do I need to renew my LVR and CPR certificate?
Both your CPR (HLTAID009) and Low Voltage Rescue (UETDRMP018) certificates must be renewed every 12 months to stay current and compliant. This is in line with Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and the requirements of most employers and industry regulators.
Letting either certificate lapse means you’re no longer legally permitted to work on or near live electrical equipment, so it’s worth setting a reminder well before your renewal date.
What if I can't attend the scheduled date I booked?
We understand that things come up. If you can’t make your booked session, contact us as soon as possible and we’ll do our best to transfer you to the next available date at no extra cost. Last-minute cancellations or no-shows may incur a fee, so the earlier you let us know, the better.
